New archives on crimes committed against Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija

February 03, 2016

Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Kosovo and Metohija, Milovan Drecun said today that formation of archives that could indicate the command responsibility for the crimes committed against Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija would begin.

Drecun, the Chairman of the Working Group on gathering facts and evidence to shed light on the crimes committed against the Serbian and other ethnic communities in Kosovo and Metohija, said that the archives would be classified according to the operational zones of the terrorist KLA.

"A lot of data on specific crimes, possible perpetrators and the command responsibility of the members of the terrorist KLA, have been presented in our session today," Drecun told the reporters in the parliament after the meeting of the working group.

According to him, the sequence of steps to be taken and the list of institutions which will be requested to provide material and evidence, have been agreed on the meeting.

"The list primarily includes KFOR, UN and OSCE. According to our information, the KFOR seized the war diaries compiled by the terrorist KLA, which contain accounts of the crimes committed," said Drecun.

It was also agreed that evidence would be gathered internally.

"We have started to gather evidence to establish our own archives. Today Veljko Odalović submitted a list of available material with the supplemented reasoning, held in possession of the Commission on Missing Persons of the Government of Serbia. We also have a really good contribution from the service for war crimes disclosure," Drecun underscored.

Drecun believes that there is good indication that the working group would be able to establish cooperation with the EU committee for determining human rights violations and with other international organizations.
